Four boys from different backgrounds, fronted by a Pinoy northerner, united as one new, exciting rock band.
The A66 is the latest addition to the Alternative Rock scene in London.
Drawing inspiration from Britpop icons like Blur, the intricate soundscapes of progressive rock artists such as Steven Wilson, and even a touch of Red Hot Chili Peppers groove, they deliver an energetic, dynamic, and unmistakably original sound that never fails to captivate.
Our Story
The band started in 2022 after Lukas Wood (guitar and vocals) and Gabriele Monte (lead guitar) crossed paths at the BIMM Music Institute.
They were later joined by Mike Akin (bass) and Matt Hogan (drums), both also students at BIMM.
Their vision was to fuse Britpop with the timeless sounds of '70s and '80s classic rock.
The result is a fresh, innovative sound, blending these influences with elements of Progressive rock and Funk.
Our Name
The name The A66 derives from the road of the same name in Northern England, which in part follows the course of the Roman road from Scotch Corner to Penrith.
It runs from east of Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire to Workington in Cumbria.
It's the road that passes next to Lukas' hometown.
